Advocacy & Empowerment

Sarah E. Flynn advocates for women's empowerment and gender equality through two international platforms. She is National Co-Chair of UNA Women, the women's affinity group of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), where she has also served as Secretary and on the Toolkit Committee. She is a Board Member of the Global Network of Women's Shelters (GNWS), where she leads board-level communications and grant strategy and recruits and trains volunteers and interns.

At the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Sarah was an official UNA-USA delegate to CSW69 (2025) and is a delegate to CSW71. As a Judith Hardes Intern Fellow with GNWS, she organized an official parallel event at CSW70, "From Safety to Justice: Survivors' Pathways to Legal Protection in Women's Shelter Settings," which brought together shelter leaders from every continent. Her advocacy draws on her scholarship in feminist theory and embodied performance and on more than 35 years in arts education.
